Environmental imaging

The health of the environment is a critical issue. Unfortunately many environmental crises are catastrophic events which in their infancy may have been averted. A pipeline rupture for instance may be caused by structural weaknesses that could have been detected with an aerial photographic assessment either of the pipe itself or of the earth as the contaminant leaks.

Site assessment and remediation

Even today, most environmental consulting companies provide not-to-scale sketches of sites within their environmental reports. Altitude’s technology allows the consulting firm to give their clients a product that is easier to read and cost effective as it provides a detailed site survey. With Altitude’s technology, the entire site can be shown on a vertical high definition photo showing all critical information to scale (monitoring wells, boreholes, AST and UST location, etc). In addition, Altitude can provide the consulting firm with low level aerial photographs of the surrounding neighbourhoods in all directions.

Drainage mapping

Drainage features are difficult to map unless seen directly from above. This is exactly what Altitude’s technology offers. We can provide high definition digital photography with special filters on a regular basis throughout the year to identify saturated areas on a specific site.

Sensitive areas mapping

Some areas such as wetlands, mud flats and shorelines cannot be accessed on foot safely, or without creating substantial damage to the environment. With our technology, the entire site can be shown in a high definition photo showing a bird’s eye view of all critical information such as plant species, bird nests wetland boundaries, heel grass etc. Altitude’s technology will be an invaluable tool to the biologist or hydrologist working in the field.

Safe landfill mapping and monitoring

The engineer or technician monitoring a landfill site may encounter dangerous ground instability caused by differential settlement within the waste or by hot spots which may be the source of underground fire. Altitude can provide high definition digital photographs on a regular basis to identify and monitor areas of unusual settlement which may represent unsafe areas for landfill and engineering staff. In addition, We are fully equipped to provide infrared and geothermal photography (for night flying) and the GPS location of potential hot spots within a landfill. Unsafe zones can then be marked directly on site to prevent future accidents.
